Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens), Petersham, Massachusetts

On the morning I took this photo, I observed upwards of 50 Eastern Newt efts in a small area, in what must have been some sort of migration event. I speculate they were moving to a nearby bog to begin their third stage of life as semiaquatic adults.
