Southern Flying Squirrel (Glaucomys volans), Glocester, Rhode Island

While the Southern Flying Squirrel is common in most forested habitats in the Eastern US, it is small, inconspicuous by sight, and nocturnal. However, it is easily detected by sound, especially during the early fall.
